I stumbled upon a tiny problem along the way though: I was out of white nailpolish and black nailpolish.. I did see an overload of transparent nailpolish in my stash... That's when I got the great idea to make my own white nailpolish out of white eyeshadow!
THE WHITE
What do you need to make a white nailpolish?
♥ transparent nailpolish (I used the Essence XXL gel-look topcoat)
♥ white eyeshadow
♥ piece of paper
♥ tweezers or other sharp object
1. Preferably use a white eyeshadow that you can miss, because it could get messy. I used tweezers to gently scrape out the white eyeshadow. Make sure you go easy on this because you want it to be fine like powder, not chunks of eyeshadow.
2. Sprinkle the white eyeshadow on a folded piece of paper so you have a funnel to pour the eyeshadow into the bottle with transparent nailpolish. Gently tap the paper until all the eyeshadow is in the transparent nailpolish.
3. SHAKE. shake. shake. Make sure it is smooth and no chunks are visible. You can repeat step 2 until you've reached the desired effect. I applied 2 coats of my DIY white nailpolish. It looks and feels like a real nailpolish and it dries just as quickly.
THE BLACK.
I could have done the same thing with a transparent nailpolish and black eyeshadow, but I thought eyeliner would work just as well. The advantage of eyeliner is that I wanted a sharp line, which works much better with eyeliner than with nailpolish. I applied it, waited a minute for it to dry and then added 2 layers of transparent nailpolish.
I love the result! This DIY saved me the time to go to the store, and it saved me money! Especially with the black part of my nails, the eyeliner I used was not even €5-, and the Chanel 219 Black Satin would have cost me a fortune again.. My eyeshadow palette has 50 colors of eyeshadow and I hardly use any of them; I could easily make any color of nailpolish I want with this DIY!
